The Rolfing® 10 Series

The Ten Series is designed to address the body as a whole, rather than as a collection of independent parts. Dr. Ida Rolf recognized that even when we feel pain, discomfort, or restriction in a specific area, the most effective treatment involves working more broadly. For example, pain in the right shoulder might be linked to stuck tissue in the left hip. The systematic approach of the Ten Series aims to identify and address any significant issues each individual may have. It is divided into three chapters: the sleeve sessions, the core sessions, and the integration sessions.

Sleeve: Sessions 1-3

The sleeve sessions aim to mobilize the outer layers of the body's fascial web, covering various regions such as the upper body, lower body, and side body. Many clients experience significant relief and improved balance after these sessions, similar to satisfying a deep itch. However, the primary goal is to prepare the body for deeper work during the Core Sessions.

Core: Sessions 4-7

The core sessions are the apex of the Ten Series. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to create space in some of the deepest layers of fascia in the body. Old injuries and long held postural patterns can be gently but firmly challenged. The transformative power of Rolfing truly comes to life during these sessions.

Integration: Sessions 8-10

The integration sessions provide an opportunity to focus more extensively on specific areas of the body that require extra attention. Every body has unique needs in Rolfing, particularly towards the end of the Ten Series. The goal is to achieve a sense of integration and improved functionality to promote lasting structural changes.

Session 5: Balancing the front line by working on the abdomen and chest.

Session 6: Focusing on the back line, including the spine and hamstrings.

Session 7: Aligning the head and neck with the rest of the body.

Session 8: Integrating the upper and lower halves of the body.PMC
